About Us
Flying Buttress Architecture was established in 2013 by Architect Simon J. D. Bird RIBA ARB who has over 20 years of architectural experience. Simon studied at De Montfort University in Leicester and now teaches there as a professional practitioner one afternoon per week lecturing in Professional Studies, Architectural design and technology.
Simon is a volunteer Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) Architect advisor to both Coventry DAC and Leicester DAC and has and advisor position on the Conservation Advisory Panel (CAP) for Leicester City Council. In both of these roles he demonstrates his knowledge and understanding of the sector commenting from an Architectural and conservation point of view, he is also a member of the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association (EASA), The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
Simon has also worked in contemporary housing, commercial and healthcare sectors and brings this wealth of varied experience to every project.
