Flying Buttress Architecture is managed by Architect and Director Simon J.D. Bird RIBA with a wealth of experience having studied at De Montfort University in Leicester; gaining a First Class degree in Architecture through to a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice. Simon has worked at Architectural practices specialising in conservation projects, ecclesiastical work, contemporary and traditional house extensions, large scale and small scale commercial projects, housing developer work and medical centre design.
Flying Buttress Architecture despite being in its infancy (only set up in 2013) has already established links with local firm Parkinson Dodson and Associates where Simon works on a freelance basis as a consultant assisting them to look after the 80+ Churches and listed buildings under their Architectural care in Leicestershire whilst expanding his knowledge of Architectural Conservation. Other projects include one off house extensions and new build houses for private clients, tutoring at De Montfort University and works to a Grade II listed bar/café in the centre of Leicester.
Simon is an Affiliate member of the IHBC, has taken the RIBA Conservation Course and is working towards being an AABC/RIBA Conservation Architect.
